A DECOMPOSER IN ACTION!

Moulds and bacteria are decomposers.

We bring different food to the class: a lemon, some bread, a strawberry and an apple.

We moisten the food and put it in a plastic bag or lunch box.
We place the recipients in the back of the classroom covered by a cardboard.

Mould begins to grow in the lemon.

A WEEK LATER

After a week, we open the bags and lunch boxes.
We observe the mould that covers the food.

We draw a picture, analyse our results and write a conclusion:

Mould is a decomposer.
It needs dark and wet places to grow.

Good job, kids!
